Orange Cardamom Pizzelle Recipe
Cardamom is one of my favorite spices. The aromatic quality of cardamom just gets my senses all excited for fall, warm cookies and chai tea. And these Orange Cardamom Pizzelles would be the perfect accompaniment to a steaming hot cup of Chai Tea Latte. Cook up a batch of these cookies and serve with tea on a cool crisp autumn day and you've got yourself a recipe for cozy!
Ingredients:
3 Large eggs
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup softened butter
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup white flour
2 tsp orange zest
2 tsp ground cardamom
In a large mixing bowl, mix the eggs, sugar and butter together. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the rest of the ingredients. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients mixing on low speed. Mix just until the ingredients are combined but don’t over mix. Measure a heaping tablespoon onto the iron and follow the iron's instructions for baking the cookies. Let the pizzelles fully cool on a hard surface or wire cooling rack before serving or storing. Optional: dust with powdered sugar after the cookies are completely cool.
